Press Conference to Address Death of Jermaine Tyler

PRATTVILLE, Ala. - June 1, 2026 - PRLog -- Serious Injury Law Group, one of the largest minority-owned injury law firms in the Southeast, will hold a press conference on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the firm's Montgomery, Alabama office regarding the death of Jermaine M. Tyler, a
39-year-old Pike Road resident who died following an encounter with the Prattville Police Department on May 19, 2026.
The press conference will be led by Attorneys Gerald Brooks and Brandon Price-Crum, of Serious Injury Law Group, as the firm begins its own investigation into the events surrounding Tyler's death.
Tyler died after police responded to calls alleging he was behaving erratically near Fairview Avenue and Diane Drive on May 19.
Authorities have stated that Tyler experienced a "medical event" while in police custody and being evaluated by medics. But for Tyler's family and legal team, those statements have only created more questions.
Serious Injury Law Group is demanding the immediate release of body camera footage, dispatch audio, witness statements, and all records
connected to the incident.
"Jermaine Tyler's family deserves answers from the Prattville Police Department, and right now they simply do not have them," said
Attorney Brandon Price-Crum. "There needs to be complete transparency as to what occurred during the encounter between Mr. Tyler and the Prattville Police officers on May 19th ."
Gerald Brooks, Managing Partner of Serious Injury Law Group, said the firm has begun an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Tyler's death and will closely examine the investigation being conducted by law enforcement.
"When a 39-year-old man dies following an encounter with police, his family deserves answers, and the public deserves transparency."
Brooks said. "Our firm has been retained to represent the Tyler family, and we intend to conduct our own investigation into every aspect of this incident. At the same time, we will follow the investigation being conducted by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office to ensure
that no facts are overlooked, no questions go unanswered, and that the Tyler family receives the truth they deserve."
The Elmore County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation, which authorities say will eventually be presented to a grand jury.
