SnipeSearch Expands Fediverse Presence with Snipe.pics

BOREHAMWOOD, U.K. - May 17, 2026 - PRLog -- Borehamwood, United Kingdom, Snipe Group Limited, the company behind SnipeSearch, the independent privacy-focused search engine established in January 2005, today announces the launch of Snipe.pics, a federated image-sharing platform built on Pixelfed and the ActivityPub protocol. The platform is now live in beta at snipe.pics.

Snipe.pics is the latest addition to the SnipeSearch Fediverse ecosystem, which already includes a Mastodon social instance and other federated services. It joins infrastructure spanning four countries, with servers in Borehamwood (Hertfordshire), Struts Canal (Netherlands), Brno (Czech Republic), and Phuket (Thailand), and offices in London, Borehamwood, Brno, and Phuket.

Image Sharing, Untethered

Snipe.pics launches under the tagline "Image sharing, untethered." Built on ActivityPub, the open standard behind Mastodon, Friendica, and PeerTube,  posts published on Snipe.pics are immediately visible across the entire Fediverse. Users on any compatible server can follow, like, and comment without holding a Snipe.pics account. Federation is live with pixelfed.social, friendica.world, bookwyrm, and peertube from day one.

Features include high-quality photo uploads up to 15MB, albums of up to four images, Stories and Moments, granular privacy controls, full account portability, and open API support for third-party apps. Existing SnipeSocial users can authenticate via single sign-on, one account, working across the ecosystem.

Privacy by Default

https://Snipe.pics carries no third-party tracking, no profiling, and no data sale. Advertising is contextual and non-tracking, served via a-ads and SnipeSearch AdClicks, the same model that has funded SnipeSocial since 2015 and that Snipe Group operates as a sustainable, privacy-compatible alternative to surveillance-based monetisation.

Snipe.pics is live now in beta at snipe.pics. Follow the ecosystem account at @snipesearch@snipe.pics from any Fediverse-compatible platform.
