Virtualization Management Enters the "Conversational Era": Vates Introduces MCP Architecture

From Manually Searching Documentation to Asking AI Directly for Answers

ZHONGHE, Taiwan - May 13, 2026 - PRLog -- TAIPEI, Taiwan - As enterprise IT infrastructures continue to grow in complexity, virtualized environments now include increasing numbers of VMs, hosts, and resource pools. IT teams often need to navigate multiple management interfaces and consult technical documentation just to gather the information required for daily operations. When issues occur, fragmented information and complicated workflows can significantly delay troubleshooting and response times.

Against this backdrop, virtualization management is beginning to evolve. Industry focus is gradually shifting from simply optimizing user interfaces to enabling more intuitive ways of accessing information — through natural language conversations with systems.

Recently, Vates introduced MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration in Xen Orchestra 6.2, allowing AI systems to connect directly with virtualization platforms and query infrastructure status from XCP-ng environments in real time.

IT administrators can now use AI platforms such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, or internal enterprise AI systems to ask questions like:
  • "Are there any abnormal VMs currently running?"
  • "Do we have enough remaining resources for a new project?"
  • "How should offsite backup be configured?"
The AI can instantly return consolidated information and recommendations based on both live infrastructure data and official technical documentation.

The MCP architecture further combines real-time system data with official documentation sources, enabling AI not only to answer operational questions, but also to provide relevant configuration guidance and technical references. This helps reduce learning barriers and lowers the cost of information retrieval.

From a security perspective, Vates' MCP implementation adopts a read-only design. The AI is limited to querying and summarizing information and cannot modify system configurations or execute operational commands. This ensures organizations can adopt AI-assisted management without impacting existing operational procedures or security controls.

Ye Chia-Chun, Channel Director at 定承資訊, stated:
"Beyond cost and architectural flexibility, management experience is becoming an increasingly important factor when evaluating virtualization platforms. Through MCP architecture, both IT personnel and other related roles can gain a more intuitive understanding of system status, helping improve overall operational efficiency."

As the virtualization market continues to evolve, differences in management experience are becoming a key consideration for enterprises selecting future platforms. By introducing AI conversational capabilities into virtualization operations, Vates is helping organizations transition from traditional interface-driven management toward a more intuitive, AI-assisted operational model.
