![]() Dawn Rasmussen Launches 37-Town Rural "Whistle Stop" Tour Across Oregon's Second DistrictRasmussen continues 12,000-mile campaign effort with stops focused on small rural communities across CD2
The tour will take Rasmussen through some of the district's smallest communities — including Shaniko, Antelope, Service Creek, Kimberly, Sumpter, Cecil, and Grass Valley — where she will meet directly with residents over coffee and pastries to hear concerns about the economy, healthcare, housing, agriculture, wildfire recovery, and the future of rural Oregon. "I want people in every corner of this district to know their voices matter," Rasmussen said. "Too often, rural communities feel overlooked and disconnected from the political process. Representation means showing up, listening, and understanding what people are actually dealing with day to day." Since filing for candidacy, Rasmussen has logged roughtly 12,000 miles traveling throughout Oregon's Second District, one of the nation's largest congressional districts geographically. While several candidates in the race have concentrated their campaigns primarily in larger population centers, Rasmussen said her campaign believes every community deserves attention — regardless of size or political influence. Rasmussen says that approach leaves too many rural communities behind. "You cannot represent rural Oregon from a distance. You have to be willing to drive the roads, sit down with people, and hear what they're dealing with." Rasmussen, a small business owner and former school board member from The Dalles, has centered her campaign on rural outreach and local engagement across the district. Upcoming Whistle Stop Schedule Rasmussen began the tour on Wednesday 5/13, with stops in Dufur, Maupin, Shaniko, Antelope, Clarno, Fossil, and Service Creek.
