![]() igus expands 3D filament range for injection-moulding-quality partsigus Launches PTFE‑Free Filament with 100x Lower Wear for 3D Printing Applications
By: igus® Singapore Pte Ltd Building on its extensive range of over 50 injection-moulding materials, igus continues to bridge the gap between traditional manufacturing and 3D printing. With iglidur i190PF, the company brings the proven performance of its injection-moulded plain bearing materials into filament form, enabling the cost-effective production of prototypes, complex geometries, and small batches. The new filament is a PTFE‑free evolution of iglidur W300 and aligns with increasing industry focus on PFAS-free alternatives. "We wanted to offer PTFE-free materials across all 3D printing technologies in response to growing regulatory discussions," Engineered for high performance, iglidur i190PF offers a flexural strength of 80 MPa, excellent abrasion resistance, and maintenance‑ Testing conducted in igus 5,500 m² laboratory demonstrates its superior tribological properties. In a pin-on-disk test against stainless steel, the material showed a wear rate 100 times lower than PETG. Despite being PTFE‑free, it matches the performance of the established iglidur i190 filament. igus offers iglidur i190PF both as a filament for in-house use on standard closed FDM printers and through its 3D printing service, where customers can upload designs and receive finished components within days.
