Art Studio Aims to Elevate Pet Portraiture for Art & Design‑Minded Audiences

NEW YORK - May 8, 2026 - PRLog -- Studio Linnæus, led by an artist with more than 30 years of experience in contemporary art, has introduced a fine‑art alternative to mass‑produced pet portraits.

Searches for "custom pet portraits" have increased by 90% over the past decade, according to a March 28 New York Times article by Dorie Chevlen, reflecting how Americans increasingly regard their pets as family members. Despite that growth, much of the market remains focused on photo replication.

"Many of our clients are passionate about art and design and want something more imaginative than a painted version of their photos," the studio's founder said. "They're looking for an artist who can translate their pet into something visually sophisticated and emotionally resonant."

Studio Linnæus develops each portrait as an original artwork, using client photographs as reference rather than templates. Works evolve through a blend of digital and manual processes; if AI tools are used, they generate only raw material that remains inert until shaped by the artist. Each portrait draws on art‑historical traditions and the principles that have guided artists for centuries — including anatomy, color, composition, light and symbolism — to capture not only likeness but presence.

Standard commissions are printed on archival cotton paper and framed in handcrafted U.S.-sourced walnut frames. Most are completed within two weeks. The studio also accepts large‑scale commissions up to 80x120 inches, along with custom wallpaper and other architectural applications. A limited number of fully hand‑rendered oil and pencil works are available annually, with a lead time of about six months.
