Healthcare Network hosts grand opening for Van Domelen Community Health CenterCenter brings high-quality healthcare to medically underserved community
By: Healthcare Network Government officials and community leaders joined donors and staff on May 6 as Healthcare Network hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and offered tours of the 20,000-square- "This building was a collaboration of the entire community, from our state legislators and county commissioners to individual donors and organizational sponsors who all came together to recognize that this was a healthcare desert, and that changed today," said Jamie Ulmer, president and CEO of Healthcare Network. Healthcare Network, a nonprofit organization working to ensure primary medical care is accessible to everyone in the community, operates medical offices and centers in underserved communities across Collier County. It also has mobile clinics that deliver essential health services to patients in hard-to-reach areas. "Healthcare Network has been a partner to reach those communities that have unmet needs," said Julia Van Domelen, whose foundation provided the lead gift that established the new center. "Healthcare Network is truly part of a major healthcare initiative in Collier County. They can service people close to home and before they need critical care." DeAngelis Diamond Construction was the general contractor overseeing construction of the Van Domelen Community Health Center, which was designed by Burt Hill/Pollock Krieg Architects.
