Trail of Tears By James E. Jennings

BRUSSELS - May 6, 2026 - PRLog -- James Jennings worked his way through college as a laborer in a steel mill and a stevedore on the Great Lakes.  He was appointed Professor of Archaeology, Middle East History, and Ancient Languages at four US universities, including a period serving as Director of the Near East School of Archaeology in Jerusalem, Jordan.  He discovered the largest Late Bronze/Early Iron Age Tomb in Israel and organized excavations at Giza, Egypt that discovered the pyramid city of Pharoah Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid.

In 1991 he founded Conscience International, leading humanitarian efforts in more than fifty countries following wars and natural disasters.  He organized and led US Academics for Peace dialogue conferences with the leaders of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, and other countries in the Middle East.  He has received awards from numerous countries and appeared frequently on television in the US and abroad.

TRAIL OF TEARS covers a wide range of themes that include historical events, personal loss, and reflections on life, nature, war, love, and human suffering. The poems explore deep emotional and philosophical topics, including the initial poem which reflects on the suffering of the Cherokee people during their forced relocation and intertwines it with the author's personal grief over the loss of his daughter, Stephanie.
