Islands of Loom Builds Everyday Menswear in Linen, Cotton, and Hemp , Without Synthetics

HYDERABAD, India - May 1, 2026 - PRLog -- Before starting Islands of Loom, Karthik spent nearly a decade working across supply chain roles at Amazon and Zomato. His work in logistics and planning gave him a clear view of how products come together , and where they quietly change along the way.

He saw where decisions were made, where compromises entered, and how the final product often drifted from what was originally intended. That perspective didn't stay limited to work. It began to show up in everyday moments, including something as simple as buying a shirt.

What he noticed was difficult to ignore.

Much of the menswear in India today relies on synthetic materials or blended fabrics, often without clear communication. Even when natural fabrics are used, quality can be inconsistent. At the same time, similar garments made in India are often finished to a higher standard for international markets, while local customers are left with fewer options.

That gap , in quality and transparency , led to the creation of Islands of Loom.

Founded by Karthik and Mounica, the Hyderabad-based brand focuses on everyday menswear built around natural fibres , linen, cotton, and hemp. The garments are made without synthetic blends, chemical-heavy finishes, or plastic across both product and packaging. The brand works with GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified materials and partners.

From the beginning, one idea guided every decision: no shortcuts , not in fabric, process, or people.

This means using only natural fibres, avoiding treatments like wrinkle-resistant coatings or optical brighteners, and working with azo-free dyes. Fair wages are built into the supply chain as a baseline, not an addition.

Details follow the same approach. Buttons are made from corozo, a plant-based alternative to plastic. Labels are 100% cotton. Orders are packed using compostable and kraft-based materials.

Production is kept intentionally limited, with garments made in small batches. Fabrics are not altered to behave differently , linen softens over time, cotton remains breathable, and hemp becomes more comfortable with wear.

Customer responses focus less on certifications and more on experience. Many describe wearing the shirts through long, humid days without discomfort. Others note how the fabric softens after washing and remains part of their regular rotation months later.

"We didn't set out to build a sustainable brand," the founders say. "We set out to build something without cutting corners. The rest followed."
