A Taste of Georgia: Food & Wine Tour: 7 nights from £2400

Foodies and cultural enthusiasts alike will both be in their element as this Georgia itinerary unfolds, and you drink in the sights and taste the produce of the south Caucasus region.

Highlights of this journey include attending a private Georgian wine master class, immersing yourselves amongst the fresh produce at a lively farmer's market, and visiting renowned boutique wineries to sample the organic, qvevri wine.

There will also be opportunities to savour regional Georgian cuisines, eat home-cooked lunches, and roll up your sleeves at a private Georgian cookery workshop.

At mealtimes, mouth-watering dishes such as khinkali dumplings, elaborate pkhali salads, khachapuri cheese bread, and karcho beef soup will grace your plates and are guaranteed to set the taste buds dancing.

When travelling from the Silk Road city of Tbilisi, through the wine lands of Kakheti, and up into the High Caucasus mountains of Kazbegi (where your hotel overlooks a snow-capped Mt. Kazbek  at 5054m), there will also be opportunities to sample the excellent local wines.

Georgian wine has been called one of the most unique on the planet and plays a role that is equally as important as food on the Taste of Georgia holiday. Made using ancient methods dating back over 8,000 years, Georgian wine is beginning to be recognised on the world stage, and is produced from grape varieties such as Kisi, Mtsvane, Saperavi and Rkatsiteli that are almost unknown outside Georgia.

Corinthian Travel has also included visits to several of Georgia's best small volume wine makers on the tour, so that you can learn more about the wine that is part of the country's intangible cultural heritage (and take a bottle or two home!).
