PRLog -- AlbiMarketing Oy, a Helsinki-based consultancy specialising in employee engagement and organisational development, has released a new research report through its Bridgium initiative. The study, titled "How Innovation Happens: Insights from Leading Enterprises in Times of Change 2026," is based on 28 in-depth interviews with innovation directors, R&D leaders, and transformation executives from enterprise companies across Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Central Europe, spanning industries including industrial technology, energy, financial services, logistics, and construction. The full report is available at https://bridgium-

The research was conducted jointly by AlbiMarketing Oy and Digitune Oy under the Bridgium brand. Project lead Natalia Illarionova (MA, Sociology) designed the study using social science methodology to examine innovation as an organisational process shaped by communication, structure, and everyday work — rather than a toolset or pipeline. The findings were reviewed with senior experts from leading companies, including Wärtsilä.
A central finding is that innovation rarely fails due to a lack of ideas or technology — it fails because ideas don't move through the organisation effectively. The report introduces a three-stage Innovation Flow model: Externalization (ideas become visible), Objectivation (ideas become shared and actionable), and Internalization (ideas embed into routine practice). Breakdowns occurred primarily at the transitions between stages. The study also identifies four systemic conditions that enable progress: legitimacy, predictability, connectivity, and innovation memory — allowing organisations to activate existing innovation capital without new programmes or restructuring.
To support practical application, AlbiMarketing has developed the Innovation Flow Diagnostic — a structured workshop helping enterprise teams identify where flow is strong, where it needs attention, and how to align efforts across functions. It is designed for innovation leads, transformation directors, and senior leadership. To access the report or learn more, connect via the AlbiCoins LinkedIn page or the Bridgium website.
