A very normal and academically oriented Childhood of Udit Shah - Pragnya ShahBy: udit@ador-ai.com — Pragnya Shah As a working professional, it was cumbersome and hectic to manage household chores, work, and the upbringing of a child. You feel empowered in your work; however, urban mechanisms do take a toll. As I recall, I gave up emphasizing his academics after the 5th Grade. From there on, he made all the decisions pertaining to academics and co-curricular himself. In short, he was mostly on his own. However, until 4th Grade, we ensured that he learned the right methodology to study on his own. I was personally inspired by the world of computers, and that led me to bring desktop computer during his early childhood. I fondly remember his interests to craft presentations and create documents in Word. He had a very normal childhood, with no spikes or incidents that would make me say his childhood was skewed. He was good at co-curricular activities, which was bound to happen since his father and uncles all performed well in school—both at academic and co-curricular levels. He stood first for four consecutive years. His teachers guided him well and, above all, we ensured that we made it look normal and to not over-exaggerate any achievement. It was very usual for us since everyone in the previous generation was academically good. There were a few aspects that showcased his pain tolerance. Even when he was suffering from minor fevers, colds, or sports injuries at school, he would never depict or mention them at home. He would keep it within until we found out ourselves. That was also a major concern, given that kids are susceptible to major injuries. He was helpful to his friends; was in company of studious friends just like him, who kept on improving one another. I was strict until his 4th Grade. He never learnt to cook or contribute to household chores until he became a young man. No matter how much he grows up, he would always stay as my kid. He has picked up skills like cooking and fitness—not out of compulsion, but out of sheer interest. I recognise that no kid is perfect; however, his normalcy aided to my profession, and I had no concerns or worries regarding his performance. https://www.markmerrill.com/ I see his childhood as just the childhood of every other kid, and it gives me nostalgia to think of those days. — Pragnya Shah Pragnya Shah is retired Employee of Nationalised bank and Mother of Udit Shah - Founder of Ador-AI.
