At the prestigious EIWA (Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association) Qualifiers, Charles became the first wrestler to advance to the tournament as the 12th seed and finish in second place, earning a coveted spot in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship. Entering the national tournament as the 33rd seed, Charles carried with him the hopes of Morgan State and the broader wrestling community.
