Senior Women Spotlight Sailing Where Few Have Sailed Before

PHOENIX AND TEMPE, Ariz. - March 25, 2026 - PRLog -- Local Mesa residents and outdoor enthusiasts Sally Marks and Carol Brokschmidt, M.D. have launched their first article about sailing in Arizona lakes in their SCAMP, a12-foot pocket cruiser sailboat. Marks and Dr. Brokschmidt focus on safe and inexpensive ways to travel, camp, enjoy nature and reduce one's carbon footprint. Future plans include a youtube channel detailing their adventures.

"Carol and I are outdoor enthusiasts who want to share what we learn as we challenge ourselves to enjoy many activities that may seem overwhelming to some," said Marks, who is 71. "Our hope is that more folks can learn from our example, but we are not cavalier. Safety first is always our hallmark to what we do, and we pass on what we've learned in our process."

Marks is long-time East Mesa resident, writer and comedy consultant. Dr. Brokschmidt, who has made Mesa her home for more than 26 years, is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist, scuba diver and sailor who has completed classes through ASA 106 of the American Sailing Association.
