![]() New drylin® Miniature Linear Module Delivers Long Stroke Performance in Tight SpacesCompact drylin® module provides high-speed, maintenance‑free motion with PTFE-free and PFAS‑tested materials to meet stringent hygiene standards.
By: igus® Singapore Pte Ltd Engineers working with pipetting systems or compact automation units often encounter bulky linear modules that struggle with long stroke lengths and require grease—an issue in sensitive environments. Measuring only 22mm in height and 32mm in width, the SLW-0620-Ds08 provides a clean, space‑saving alternative. "Users need compact modules that run smoothly over long strokes without lubricants. Our new SLW-0620-Ds08 delivers exactly that," says Michael Hornung, Product Manager for drylin Linear and Drive Technology at igus. The module is available in both silver and black anodised versions. Despite its miniature format, the module enables stroke lengths up to 300mm and speeds of 200mm/s. This is achieved through a dryspin® high-helix thread with a 40mm pitch per rotation, paired with an 8mm diameter lead screw for added rigidity. Laboratory testing confirms a service life of 877,000 double strokes under a 30N load. The system supports a static axial load of 50N and radial loads up to 200N. To meet hygiene‑critical requirements, the SLW-0620-Ds08 runs entirely without grease. Its carriage glides on high-performance plastic bearings with embedded solid lubricants, enabling dry, low-friction operation. All bearing points utilise iglidur® JPF, a PTFE-free and PFAS-tested material, helping customers prepare for potential future EU regulations. "The combination of SLW miniature axis, dryspin lead screw technology and iglidur JPF increases reliability while supporting growing sustainability demands," Hornung adds.
