Hosted by Pacifica Institute at the Circle City Center, the gathering welcomed approximately 60 attendees representing diverse backgrounds, professions, and faith traditions. The event provided an opportunity for participants to learn about Ramadan, the Islamic holy month observed by Muslims worldwide, while engaging in meaningful conversations with neighbors from different communities. The evening featured a keynote address by Professor Jerald Whitehouse, who spoke about the importance of empathy, respectful dialogue, and active civic engagement in building stronger and more connected communities. Local leaders and professionals from various organizations attended the program, including representatives from educational institutions, faith communities, nonprofit organizations, and public service sectors. Their participation reflected a shared commitment to fostering cooperation and mutual understanding across cultural and religious differences. Among the attendees were local leaders and professionals including Ipyani Lockert, speaker and owner of Motivational Realizations; Several attendees noted that the evening marked their first experience attending an iftar, the traditional meal that breaks the daily fast during Ramadan. The event included introductions, community dialogue, and a shared iftar dinner, where guests gathered around tables to continue conversations and build new connections.
