New App from NACD Helps Families Have Better Dinner Table Conversations

SALT LAKE CITY - March 11, 2026 - PRLog -- SALT LAKE CITY, UT The National Association for Child Development (NACD) has launched Family Conversations, a free app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch that helps families have deeper, more meaningful conversations at the dinner table every night.

The app provides a curated question each night, calibrated to a child's age and developmental level, with follow-up prompts to keep conversation going and a Quote Journal to preserve memorable moments.

"The dinner table is one of the most powerful developmental environments in a child's life," said Laird Doman, third-generation leader of NACD and creator of Family Conversations. "The problem isn't that parents don't care. It's that the right question is hard to come up with at 6:30pm when everyone is tired. We built this to solve that."

Every question targets core cognitive skills: auditory processing, working memory, perspective-taking, and executive function. The app also supports Apple Watch, so parents can glance at the night's question on their wrist and leave their phone out of the room entirely.
