PRLog -- Knob Trading, through its Venezuelan subsidiary K-NOB Trading S.A., successfully completed a logistics infrastructure project designed to improve the transport and handling of Merey 16 crude oil in the Orinoco Oil Belt. The project involved the upgrading, repair, and commissioning of key systems for the efficient transfer of heavy crude from production fields to blending points and export terminals.
The main interventions carried out include:
- Rehabilitation and expansion of capacity in pumping systems and lines associated with the handling of Merey crude oil
- Installation and commissioning of specialized equipment to optimize flow and reduce transfer times
- Reinforcement of temporary storage and blending facilities
- Implementation of improvements in operational safety and spill control during land transport and support for upgrader/mixer facilities. This project is part of the efforts to increase the evacuation capacity of Merey 16 crude oil, the Venezuelan reference grade (≈16° API), produced mainly in the Orinoco Belt, which requires diluents and specialized handling for its transport and marketing. Knob Trading, which maintains technical and commercial alliances with companies in the United States and Europe, provided its own logistical equipment during the project, including:
- Lowboy trailer for transporting heavy components
- Vacuum units for cleaning and maintaining tanks
- Trucks equipped with welding machines for on-site repairs
- Jumbo-type support equipment for assembly and additional exploration tasks
The company reported that the project generated direct and indirect employment for more than 300 people during its execution and that technical training was provided to local personnel on the operation and maintenance of the new systems.
