, the award-winning online magazine by and for youth to explore life's big questions, launches its spring issue on "Mistakes & Failure" This season, 11-to-17-year-
olds around the world dig into the impact of our inevitable missteps.
Each issue of KidSpirit revolves around a Big Question posed by the all-youth Editorial Board. This season, the editors ask, "How do our mistakes and failures help or haunt us?" In her response, a teen writer reflects on a personal loss to illustrate how regret can be transformed into a learning experience.
Other pieces released today include an article on mistakes as a necessary step in the learning process, a narrative on the lesson gleaned from a disappointing kayaking competition, an essay on the enduring influence of a mother's words on fear of failure, a review of the movie
The Imitation Game, and a short story about the dangers of living in the past.
Throughout the season, KidSpirit will continue to publish writing, poetry, artwork, and video by youth on this theme. In Features, writers will delve into science, pop culture, and the lives of renowned artists to examine the relationship between failure and creativity. The Interfaith Connections department will feature pieces from teens in New York and Singapore. The Fiction and Poetry departments will showcase more creative writing on the topic from lyrical young authors around the world.
Each issue of KidSpirit features additional wisdom from one adult with expertise in the theme in a column called PerSpectives. This issue's author will be announced later in the spring.
