![]() History Making Former Alameda County DA Pamela Price On WECS TV In Black History MonthPrice's transformative leadership spans Black History Month, Women's History Month and American History.
As Black History Month soon transitions into Women's History Month, WECS TV hosted by Jackie Wright, speaks with civil rights attorney and former Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price about her bid for a second term as District Attorney. Price's experience as the first Black Alameda County District Attorney in over 170 years, the first Black female DA, the first DA elected in 75 years, the first Alameda County DA to be recalled from office and the first to immediately run to regain the post, bridges both Black History and Women's History. Wright Enterprises Community Spotlight San Francisco ~ Dallas is taped in the historic Fillmore District of San Francisco at the African American Art and Culture Complex (AAACC). The recently launched show is based on Wright's longtime digital newsletter that often carries news not covered by mainstream media. It is produced by veteran media professional, Ken Johnson and Will Hammond. Not only is Price a history maker as she runs undaunted to regain her seat, her champion spirit was demonstrated as she matriculated through Yale University. Her defiance not to have sex with a professor for a grade resulted in Price being the lead plaintiff in the 1977 Alexander vs Yale landmark case that impacted women's rights across the nation. Thanks to the leadership of Price, protections against sexual harassment and sexual assaults for girls and women across the nation at schools and colleges were established under Title IX. "It was indeed an honor to interview trailblazer, Pamela Price, who told me she was radicalized by the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King and has continued her fight for social justice and hasn't looked back since April 4, 1968," Jackie Wright, host of WECS-TV. "Her commitment to civil rights was spoken a few days ahead of the sad news of Dr. King's mentee Jesse Jackson having passed on February 17th, the birthday of Black Panther founder, Huey P. Newton. Also, the taping occurred before the unfortunate repost by California Gubernatorial Candidate of a racist and disparaging video about Price much like the Trump style video of the Obamas. Price confronted Swalwell at the California Democratic State Convention about the insensitive and petty post. Congressman Swalwell's conduct is a direct violation of California's Elections Code Section 20440 (Code of Fair Campaign Practices). WECS is aired on San Francisco's Channel 29 and can be found on social media platforms.
