UK Motorcycle Industry Calls for Increased Government Support as Sector Faces Mounting Pressures

DONCASTER, U.K. - Feb. 5, 2026 - PRLog -- The UK motorcycle industry has formally called for increased government support, warning that without clearer policy recognition and targeted intervention, riders, manufacturers and retailers risk being left behind as transport priorities evolve.

Key areas highlighted by the industry include the need for clearer long-term policy direction, improved support for zero and low emission motorcycles, and fairer treatment within transport funding and incentive schemes.

The current Plug-in Motorcycle grant is due to end in 2026, raising concerns about the impact on affordability and adoption of cleaner two-wheeled transport.

Industry figures also point to the economic contribution of motorcycling, which supports thousands of UK jobs across manufacturing, retail, training and events, as well as its role in providing accessible personal transport for commuters and rural communities.

Stakeholders are urging policymakers to recognise motorcycles as part of the solution to congestion, mobility, and environmental targets, rather than treating them as an afterthought within a wider transport strategy.
