The Harvester: Independent Filmmaker Launches AI-Driven Horror Feature with Global DistributionFrancis Manzo raises funds via Kickstarter to bring immersive, festival-ready horror to streaming platforms and festivals
By: Wintree Studios The Harvester follows Ava Marsh, a burned-out paramedic who returns to her drowned hometown for her mother's funeral, only to uncover a fanatical church feeding a living god beneath the surrounding bog. As grief and blind devotion collide, Ava uncovers the truth behind her mother's death and a community willing to justify ritual murder as divine will. Set in a decaying wetland town, the film emphasizes practical effects, organic production design, and handheld cinematography to deliver immersive, claustrophobic horror. Visually, The Harvester draws inspiration from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Wicker Man, and Hereditary. Designed as a festival-ready independent feature, the project prioritizes character, atmosphere, and mythos over digital spectacle. The filmmakers have secured worldwide distribution pathways and will release the film through their Smart TV and YouTube streaming platform, Bijou Theater (www.Bijou.theater), in addition to traditional distribution outlets. Kickstarter funds will support practical special-effects makeup and creature design, on-location wetland production, original sound design and score recording, and post-production and festival submission costs. Beyond scares, The Harvester explores themes of faith, grief, and moral decay, offering socially resonant horror rooted in human experience. The Kickstarter campaign is now live: http://kck.st/ End
