NAIROBI, Kenya - Jan. 23, 2026 - PRLog -- Miale Solar Inventions Ltd, a leading commercial and industrial (C&I) solar developer in Kenya with strategic roots in Sweden, has secured a EUR 5 million funding commitment from Trine, a Swedish impact investing platform that specializes in renewable energy financing in emerging markets.

The funding forms part of a long-term strategic partnership between Miale and Trine, aimed at scaling access to clean, reliable, and affordable solar power for businesses and institutions across Kenya. Trine will act as a long-term financing partner, supporting Miale's growth pipeline over the next two years, with a shared ambition to expand funding capacity to up to EUR 40 million by 2030.

Jonas Barman, Cofounder of Miale Solar, said: "Partnering with Trine is a strong validation of Miale's long-term vision and operating model. With our Swedish roots and deep local presence in Kenya, this investment allows us to scale reliable solar infrastructure for schools, hospitals, and businesses."

This financing positions Miale among the best-capitalized C&I solar developers in Kenya, enabling the company to rapidly expand its project portfolio, strengthen its balance sheet, and accelerate deployment of solar assets in key sectors including education, healthcare, manufacturing, and agro-processing.

Stephen Adwong'a, Chief Executive Officer of Miale Solar Inventions, explained: "Securing this level of funding marks a major milestone for Miale. It reflects strong investor confidence in our operating model, governance, and long-term strategy."

Kenya is one of Africa's most advanced renewable energy markets, with over 80% of electricity generation coming from renewable sources, yet many commercial users continue to face high tariffs, grid instability, and rising diesel costs. Demand for captive solar solutions has grown sharply in recent years as businesses seek predictable energy pricing and operational resilience.

Miale's model directly addresses this need by offering fully financed solar solutions through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and lease-to-own structures, removing upfront capital barriers for clients while delivering long-term cost savings and emissions reductions.

Eric Mwenda, Chief Financial Officer of Miale Solar, added: "We are proud to see Miale onboarded as a Trine partner. This partnership strengthens our financial foundation and enables us to pursue expansion at scale while maintaining strong risk management and asset quality."

Founded in 2015, Miale Solar has built a diversified portfolio of solar assets serving schools, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, and agricultural value chains across Kenya. The company combines Nordic sustainability principles, strong corporate governance, and deep local execution capability, delivering bankable projects that meet both commercial and impact investment standards.

The Trine partnership reinforces Miale Solar's position as a trusted infrastructure partner for corporate and institutional clients, capable of delivering large-scale, long-term solar solutions backed by international capital. https://mialesolar.com/
