Rekithara, an innovative musical instrument brand from Uruguay, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its first public production run of sustainable electric guitars and basses. Founded by luthier Alejandro Montossi, Rekithara merges traditional lutherie with recycled materials and contemporary techniques, applying circular design principles without compromising performance.

The campaign invites musicians, collectors, sustainability advocates, and creative professionals to support a limited production run of handcrafted instruments designed to last a lifetime. Rekithara's mission is to create high-value musical instruments with purpose, reducing waste while preserving sound quality and long-term durability. This Kickstarter marks the official beginning of Rekithara's legacy as a brand committed to innovation and responsible production.

Key Features

The campaign features three main models crafted from premium seasoned woods and responsibly recycled plastics, alongside a unique special edition instrument built entirely from premium woods.

All Rekithara instruments feature stainless steel frets and Rekithara's Pure Vintage pickups, ensuring durability and a consistent tonal identity across the lineup.

EBO is a full-scale electric guitar with a 25.5-inch scale, designed with a strong focus on ergonomics, comfort, and expressive playability. It features a tremolo bridge, arm contour, and softly rounded edges for a smooth, responsive feel.

AMONER (Second Generation) is a short-scale, 24-inch electric guitar conceived as a lightweight, compact, and travel-friendly instrument, prioritizing comfort and ease of use.

LUNINA Bass is a full-scale, four-string bass with a 34-inch scale, sharing the same ergonomic design principles as the EBO. It is built for balance, comfort, and confident playability, delivering clear lows and warm mids.

The campaign also introduces a One-of-One Special Edition instrument, individually engraved and built from carefully selected premium woods. Each piece is completely unique and available exclusively through Kickstarter.

Sustainability & Materials.

All metal components are made from stainless steel and brass to ensure long-term durability and resistance to wear.

As part of its ongoing material research, Rekithara has also successfully experimented with recycled cellulose acetate derived from cigarette filters, validating its potential for future applications within the project.

Pickups & Sound

Rekithara designs and produces its own pickups in-house. Rekithara's Pure Vintage '58 humbucker delivers warm, expressive tones, while the Pure Vintage '59 single-coil offers clarity and classic character. Both models are hand-wound and housed in recycled plastic casings.

In addition, the campaign includes handwoven guitar straps developed in collaboration with Entre Manos, a social impact initiative that transforms discarded textiles into functional products. Artisans in Paraguay and Uruguay apply ancestral weaving and finishing techniques, making each strap unique and culturally meaningful.
