Julie Slim Releases New Album Suspended

A deeply personal, multilingual jazz/world album reflecting a lifetime of music, resilience, and rebirth

NEW YORK - Jan. 12, 2026 - PRLog -- Lebanese-Palestinian-American jazz and world vocalist Julie Slim has released her new full-length album, Suspended, a profoundly personal and collaborative project that captures snapshots of her life across decades. Recorded over several years and shaped by global uncertainty, personal transformation, and enduring community, Suspended stands as both a musical memoir and a testament to resilience.

The album features original songs written across different stages of Julie's life—from the very first song she composed with her sister as a preteen to pieces written during the Covid era. Recording began in the fall of 2019, but the onset of the pandemic brought the project to a halt. When Julie resumed work in 2022, major life changes again slowed the process, allowing the album to evolve organically alongside her personal journey.

"Suspended truly represents my life at different stages and phases until now," says Slim. "The title reflects how my life has felt since Covid, and releasing this album feels like a rebirth—both personally and musically."

Musically, Suspended brings together artists from Julie's world music and jazz circles, resulting in a rich, genre-blending sound rooted in trust, friendship, and heartfelt collaboration. From composition to solo performances, mixing, and mastering, every element grew naturally out of shared conversations and long-standing relationships.

The album is also deeply connected to family—both musical and chosen. Julie credits her community for sustaining her during moments of creative doubt. The album cover itself is a meaningful collaboration, created by her sister, a graphic artist, who visually translated Julie's emotional relationship with the project "in a beautifully accurate way."

The final chapter of the album came together with the live-in-studio recording of the last three songs, bringing together dear friends who are also brilliant musicians. The opening track, "One More Day," encapsulates the core lesson woven throughout Suspended: all we truly have is this moment. "We are suspended in each moment until the next," Slim reflects.

Listening back now, Julie sees the album as a retrospective of the major life events that have shaped who she is today—an illustration of the phrase "it takes a village."
