ZHENGZHOU, China - Dec. 18, 2025 - PRLog -- Chicken farms produce tens to hundreds of tons of chicken manure every day. Fresh chicken manures contain about 70-80% moisture. High moisture manure will increase transportation costs, accelerate the reproduction of pathogens, bacteria, and flies, and produce unpleasant odors. Therefore, whether chicken manure is to be used as fertilizer or stored, it must be dried first. For chicken farms, traditional air drying methods can no longer meet the requirements for large-scale processing of chicken manure. At present, there are three commonly used methods for drying chicken manure in chicken farms:

1. Manure conveyor belt+exhaust fan drying

This is a semi drying technology that combines mechanical conveying and forced ventilation, commonly used in modern chicken coops. Generally speaking, the manure conveyor belt runs once every 3-4 days. In summer, these 3-4 days can reduce the moisture content of chicken manure from 75% to 20-30%, but in winter, due to reduced indoor ventilation and slower drying rate, the moisture content of manure may still be around 60% after 3-4 days. This method has the lowest cost, but is greatly affected by season.

2. Indoor compost drying

This method utilizes the internal space of the chicken coop or a dedicated indoor fermentation area to assist in drying through the heat generated by microbial fermentation. It utilizes aerobic fermentation to generate heat, raising the temperature of chicken manure to 50-70 ℃. The high temperature accelerates water evaporation and kills bacteria. Although indoors, it is necessary to cooperate with a strong ventilation system to eliminate exhaust gases and supplement oxygen to prevent the generation of odors. Chicken manure, after sufficient fermentation, has a high organic matter conversion rate and is suitable for use as fertilizer.

3. Rotary drying

This is the most mainstream fast drying solution for chicken manure in industry now, which uses high-temperature hot air for instant dehydration. Rotary drying adopts a three-stage heating system: preheating section (500-700 ℃), drying section (300-500 ℃), and cooling section (<100 ℃), ensuring that the material is not burnt but fully dried. The inner wall of the drum is equipped with a scraping or crushing device, which continuously flips chicken manure to increase the heating area and solve the problem of "sticking to the wall". In addition, the rotary dryer system is equipped with a three-stage dust removal system (cyclone dust removal+bag dust removal+wet dust removal), which effectively purifies dust and eliminates odors in the exhaust gas.
