TEL AVIV, Israel - Dec. 8, 2025 - PRLog -- PacketLight Networks today introduced the PL-2000FC, a compact, open, and scalable 64G Fibre Channel transponder that enables organizations to expand SAN and DCI connectivity without the complexity or lock-in typical of traditional transport systems.

The PL-2000FC transports 4×64G Fibre Channel services over 4×OTU4 uplinks across OTN and dark fiber networks, providing flexible deployment options for metro, regional, and data center interconnect environments. It offers a clear standards-based demarcation point between client traffic and the optical layer, ensuring seamless interoperability with any third-party DWDM/OTN infrastructure.

To streamline architecture and reduce footprint, the platform integrates up to two EDFAs, mux/demux, and an optical switch into a single unit. It supports standards-based pluggable optics, including SFP56 SR for 64G FC client interfaces and QSFP28/QSFP28-DCO for 100G OTU4 uplinks. This combination delivers a fully monitored, easy-to-manage solution compatible with multi-vendor optical environments.

"As data center and storage ecosystems continue to accelerate, customers need transport solutions that match their pace," said Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight Networks. "The PL-2000FC delivers the performance, openness, and operational simplicity needed to scale Fibre Channel connectivity without re-architecting the entire network."

Designed for data centers, cloud providers, financial institutions, utilities, government networks, carriers, and service providers, the PL-2000FC offers a practical way to modernize storage and transport infrastructure while preserving existing investments.
