WDTA Advances China–ASEAN AI Cooperation with Launch of AI STR International Open Lab in Qianhai

 
SHENZHEN, China - Dec. 5, 2025 - PRLog -- The World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA) welcomes the official launch of the China–ASEAN Collaborative Innovation Demonstration Base for Emerging Industries and the successful convening of the 2025 ASEAN-China GBA Economic Cooperation Artificial Intelligence Forum, attended by over 1,000 participants, Shenzhen. The forum was attended by senior government officials, industry leaders, and international representatives, including the Chairman of United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UN CSTD), the Secretary-General of ASEAN, the leader of Shenzhen and Qianhai government, underscoring the strong political commitment on both sides to deepen digital and AI cooperation between China and ASEAN.

During the opening ceremony of the forum, WDTA officially launched the AI STR International Open Laboratory (Safety, Trust, Responsibility) — a global platform integrating AI standards, testing, certification, and international mutual recognition to support trustworthy cross-border deployment of artificial intelligence. The lab is a joint venture leading by WDTA with partners Cloud Security Alliance Greater China Region (CSA GCR), Tencent Cloud, Ant Group, Shenzhen National FinTech Testing Center etc.

WDTA Founding Academician Prof. C. C. Chan, world-renowned scientist and "Father of Electric Vehicles in Asia," delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of responsible AI and green digital transformation to support sustainable regional development. WDTA Executive Director Dr. Melan Xu announced the operational framework of the AI STR Lab and outlined its role in enabling international AI compliance, governance alignment, and industry incubation across China and ASEAN.

The forum also witnessed the signing of over 20 China–ASEAN cooperation projects covering AI healthcare, biomedicine, clean energy, smart manufacturing, and digital infrastructure, marking a new phase of pragmatic regional collaboration. WDTA believes these developments will strongly enhance regional AI governance capacity, innovation interoperability, and digital trust, and will accelerate the building of an open, inclusive, and secure digital economy for China and ASEAN.
