SINGAPORE - Dec. 4, 2025 - PRLog -- Just in time for Compamed, igus introduces iglidur i2000, a groundbreaking PTFE-free resin for 3D printers that meets stringent standards by excluding all 96 critical PFAS substances. Designed for medical device components, this innovative material delivers exceptional performance for moving and friction-loaded parts such as gears, bearing bushes, and miniature drive wheels.

Why iglidur i2000?
Manufacturers of laboratory technology, diagnostic devices, and surgical robots increasingly rely on 3D printing for precision components. However, many resins contain PFAS chemicals, which the EU may restrict due to environmental and health concerns. "Medical technology companies are already seeking alternatives," says Jonas Burk, Head of Additive Manufacturing at igus. "iglidur i2000 offers a safe, PFAS-free solution without compromising quality."

High Precision & Self-Lubricating Performance
The resin is a light-sensitive liquid cured via SLA and DLP printers, producing parts with smooth surfaces and injection-moulding-level precision. Integrated solid lubricants ensure dry-running, maintenance-free operation—without PTFE. This makes iglidur i2000 ideal for hygienic applications in sensitive industries.

Unmatched Wear Resistance
igus testing proves iglidur i2000 is up to 122 times more wear-resistant than standard resins. With a flexural strength of 74 MPa, Shore D hardness of 80, and thermal stability from -20°C to 100°C (up to 140°C short-term), it withstands demanding conditions. In lab tests, wear dropped from 63.97 µ/km to just 0.52 µ/km under high load—an extraordinary improvement.

Key Benefits:
  • PFAS-free and PTFE-free for regulatory compliance
  • Superior wear resistance for friction-loaded parts
  • Precision comparable to injection moulding
  • Lubrication-free for hygienic applications
