DUBLIN - Dec. 4, 2025 - PRLog -- Zero Waste Fashion Week in Granada Blends Heritage, Creativity, and Eco-Education

The EcoFashionProject consortium completed a dynamic international mobility in Granada, Spain, titled Zero Waste Fashion Week: Granada's Heritage Meets Eco-Education. The activity brought together students, teachers, and partner organisations from across Europe for a week of creative sustainability learning, cultural immersion, and hands on fashion innovation. The mobility combined expert led sessions, school based activities, thematic workshops, and heritage visits. Participants explored how traditional Andalusian arts, especially Flamenco fashion and textile craftsmanship, can be reimagined through sustainable principles. Throughout the week, students developed practical skills, produced creative outputs, and collaborated in an intercultural environment.

Programme Highlights

Sustainable Fashion Insights

The week opened with a talk by Spanish fashion designer Antonio Gutiérrez, who introduced participants to sustainable Flamenco fashion. His session highlighted the intersection of tradition, eco friendly materials, and modern design thinking.

Workshops and Creative Labs
  • A structured activity on the economic realities of second hand shops across partner countries helped students compare local circular practices.
  • A hands on Fajalauza T shirt dyeing workshop introduced natural dyeing techniques inspired by Granada's ceramic heritage.
  • The Designing Flamenco workshop allowed students to transform their ideas into garment prototypes.
  • Through the Story Circle sessions, students created and shared narratives on reuse, giving personal meaning to circular fashion.

Heritage and Cultural Learning
  • A guided visit to the Silk Interpretation Center traced the history of Granada's silk trade and connected ancient craftsmanship with today's sustainability challenges.
  • Students and teachers explored the Albaicín, learning about ecological practices in historic neighbourhoods.
  • A full morning at the Alhambra offered insight into Andalusia's architectural heritage and its relevance for cultural preservation.

Showcase and Recognition

The mobility concluded with a lively fashion show presenting designs created during the workshops. Students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and awareness of sustainable principles. A diploma ceremony celebrated their participation, followed by reflection activities and mobility assessment.

Outcomes and Impact

Participants improved their green skills, digital competences, and cultural awareness. They developed new perspectives on textile sustainability, reuse, and responsible consumption. The mobility strengthened cooperation among European partners and produced creative outputs that will feed into the broader EcoFashionProject dissemination activities. The project continues to support youth engagement in sustainability through fashion, storytelling, and experiential learning.
