STOCKHOLM - Nov. 18, 2025 - PRLog -- Versasec, a global leader in smartcard and credential management for organizations, today announced the launch of vSEC:CMS Version 7.2. This latest release enhances enterprise security posture by providing IT administrators with centralized control over decentralized FIDO2 keys in its light application, streamlining the transition of active YubiKeys to its platform.

Building on the foundation laid by vSEC:CMS 7.0, which launched a mature FIDO credential management system, and Version 7.1, which focused on scaling FIDO2 batch issuance and applet reset capabilities, vSEC:CMS 7.2 delivers these functionalities in its light application version, designed to reduce helpdesk friction, ensure continuous compliance, and accelerate phishing-resistant authentication adoption.

"As organizations across the globe continue to invest in advanced authentication technologies, including certificate-based authentication and passkeys through FIDO, the demand for streamlined management tools is critical," said Joakim Thorén, Founder and CEO of Versasec.

Recognizing the growing demand for management systems to administer YubiKeys, vSEC:CMS 7.2 introduces automated re-provisioning for a seamless transition of active YubiKeys to vSEC:CMS management.

The automated process ensures the device's PIV lifecycle is now managed and trackable by vSEC:CMS, which adds security and user friendliness to the device management:
  • Resets the PIV applet, including the administrative applet, the PUC (PIN Unblocking Code), and the user PINs.
  • Wipes all existing keys and certificates.
  • Takes over management by generating unique, "diversified" credentials for the device.
  • Simultaneously generates new keys and certificates.
Version 7.2 introduces the management of the Thales SafeNet eToken FIDO, expanding options for enterprises seeking a robust, NFC-enabled authenticator for both mobile and desktop use. And the Swissbit iShield Key 2, a high-assurance certified key, offering a hybrid of FIDO2 and PIV capabilities.

Complementing this expanded support, vSEC:CMS 7.2 also introduces full lifecycle management for AuthenTrend's biometric authenticators, beginning with the ATKey.Card.NFC. This integration allows enterprises to deploy and manage this advanced FIDO2 smart card directly from vSEC:CMS. The partnership strategically enhances Versasec's ability to serve the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific market.

vSEC:CMS 7.2 addresses the security needs of the decentralized FIDO2 landscape by adding the recently introduced Versasec FIDO features for centralized management to the vSEC:CMS Agent application:
  • List and remove passkeys to effectively revoke access from lost or retired devices.
  • Streamline user onboarding by initiating fingerprint enrollment.
  • Perform a full FIDO2 application reset for troubleshooting or re-issuance.
