GU students shine in global documentary Lady of the Mountain showcased at EPEX Dana Cinema

GU students debut first international documentary in Chechnya, highlighting cultural exchange, cinematic creativity, and experiential learning during Russian Cultural Days.

MANAMA, Bahrain - Nov. 13, 2025 - PRLog -- Gulf University screened the documentary film "Lady of the Mountain: A Story from Chechnya" at EPEX Dana Cinema as part of the Russian Cultural Days at the university's Sanad campus. The film was produced by students from the College of Communication and Media Technologies and represents Gulf University's first international media project filmed outside Bahrain.

Produced in Russian and Arabic, the documentary follows the students' journey to Chechnya, where they captured the region's nature, culture, and heritage and conducted interviews with local academic and cultural figures.

Prof. Mohannad Al Firas, President of Gulf University, stated that the project reflects the university's commitment to combining academic knowledge with practical experience and artistic creativity. He praised the students for bringing Chechen culture to Bahraini audiences and highlighted the role of media in promoting cultural exchange.

The screening was organized under the "Tareekhi" (My History) program, supported by the Russian government as part of the cooperation agreement with Chechen State Pedagogical University.

Attendees commended the film's artistic and technical quality and the students' ability to present Chechnya's landscapes and culture through professional documentary filmmaking.
