Jack 'JAXWALK' Huffman Embarks on 275-Mile Michigan Trek to Build Barn for Rescue Horses"

CENTERLINE, Mich. - Nov. 11, 2025 - PRLog -- World-traveling endurance walker Jack "JAXWALK" Huffman is set to begin Michigan's Walk for the Horses on November 11, 2025, a 275-mile trek across the state following Michigan's iconic Lake-to-Lake Trail — this time walking for a mission close to his heart: giving rescued horses a safe and permanent home.

An Army veteran and lifelong animal advocate, Jack is partnering with the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG), a Michigan-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. The goal of this walk is to raise $12,000 to fund a new barn to house three rescue horses, providing them shelter, warmth, and care they have long been denied.

"This walk is for those who can't take the steps themselves," said Huffman. "The horses at DAWG have endured so much. Every step I take is for them — to give them comfort, care, and a forever home."

About the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG)

Based in Almont, Michigan, DAWG rescues hundreds of animals each year, from horses and livestock to dogs, cats, and wildlife. The organization provides shelter, medical care, and adoption services, giving animals a second chance at life. The new horse barn will expand DAWG's capacity to care for large animals in need, creating a lasting sanctuary for rescued equines.

A Legacy of Impact

Jack began his endurance walking mission in 2019, completing a 2,841-mile trek from Newport Beach, CA, to Tybee Island, GA to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Since then, he has walked thousands of miles across the country for various causes:

• 2020: 262 miles across Michigan for St. Jude
• 2022: 362 miles from Belle Isle to Mackinac Island, MI for the DMAN Foundation
• 2023: 1,800 miles from Sarasota, FL to Rochester Hills, MI for Salute Our Warriors, accompanied by a dove named Nikki
  
• 2024–2025: Multiple walks totaling over 6,000 miles, helping raised nearly $500,000 for charitable causes including The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund and children's charities

Jack's endurance walks are as much about inspiring people as raising funds, and Michigan's Great Barn Walk promises to continue that tradition.
