DOHA, Qatar - Nov. 8, 2025 - PRLog -- The United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development concluded successfully in Doha, Qatar from 4 to 6 Nov 2026, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to reaffirm the shared commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable development in the digital age.

World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA) took part in the opening ceremony, hosted the High-Level Session on "Bridging the Digital Divide: AI for Inclusive Development in the Global South", held multiple bilateral meetings, and conducted a book presentation ceremony by Prof. Yale Li (Executive Chairman of WDTA) with H.E. Annalena Baerbock (UN President of General Assembly) during the closing session.

At the Summit, WDTA—together with UN bodies and partner countries—announced several major global initiatives: the Digital World Conference (DWC) in Geneva and Seattle, the World Digital and Frontier Technology Awards (WDFTA), the Digital Talent Development Program (DigiBridge), and the AI Safe, Trust and Responsibility (AI STR) framework. They represent a strategic response to the defining opportunities and challenges of the digital era. Lok Tappa (ECOSOC President), Gilbert Houngbo (Director-General, ILO), Muhammadou Kah (Chair of UN CSTD), and Magdalena Carmona (Director of UNRISD) expressed high appreciation for WDTA's work, noting that its establishment was both timely and essential, responding to the urgent need for global governance and inclusive digital development.

The Summit brought together more than 14,000 participants from all UN Member States, international organizations, NGOs, academia, and the private sector, including over 40 Heads of State and Government, and more than 230 Ministers. The event reaffirmed the centrality of the United Nations in global social and technological governance, marking a new milestone three decades after the first World Summit for Social Development held in Copenhagen 30 years ago.
