"A Night for Justice" Gala raises more than $121,000 to champion access to justice

DANIA, Fla. - Nov. 7, 2025 - PRLog -- Legal Aid Service of Broward County's A Night for Justice Gala raised more than $121,000 in support of the nonprofit's mission to provide free civil legal services to thousands of Broward County residents in need each year.

The sold-out event drew nearly 300 guests to the elegant Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) on Oct. 23, 2025, celebrating the theme "Rhythms of Hope." Guests enjoyed live music by the Streetlight Entertainment Band, gourmet dining and heartfelt recognition of community leaders dedicated to advancing access to justice.

Alexis Frazier, anchor and reporter for Local 10 News, served as Master of Ceremonies, guiding an inspiring evening that reflected the compassion, generosity and unity of the Broward County community.

"Our gala was an incredible success and a powerful reminder that when our community comes together, we can truly make a difference," said Debra Koprowski, executive director of Legal Aid Service of Broward County. "The funds raised will directly help vulnerable individuals and families including those facing eviction or homelessness, children in need of advocacy, veterans, households struggling with debt and collections and so many others who turn to Legal Aid for hope and justice."

The evening also recognized four distinguished honorees for their exceptional contributions to the community:
  • Attorney of the YearProfessor Timothy Arcaro, Esq., Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law
  • Law Firm of the YearNelson Mullins
  • The Russell E. Carlisle Advocacy AwardDr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, president and CEO, Urban League of Broward County
  • The Tony Karrat Excellence in Community Service AwardHon. Retired Chief Judge Jack Tuter
Proceeds from A Night for Justice will support Legal Aid's wide-ranging programs, which provide critical legal representation and education to those facing challenges related to housing, family law, children in need, veterans' affairs, domestic violence and more.
