To ensure peak performance even in harsh saltwater conditions, MSR relies on high-performance polymer plain bearings from igus. These bearings, used in the handlebar bracket and throttle grip, are corrosion-free, maintenance-free, and lightweight—perfect for the demands of marine sports.

"Traditional metal bearings couldn't meet our requirements," says Martin Hlaváč, R&D Engineer at MSR Engines. "We needed components that resist corrosion, absorb minimal moisture, and operate smoothly without lubrication."

igus flanged bearings made from iglidur® P provide stable pivoting in the handlebar bracket, while iglidur® J bearings ensure precise throttle control. Both materials offer excellent dimensional stability and shock resistance, even under constant exposure to saltwater.

Beyond durability, the polymer bearings contribute to Jetsurf's sustainability. Their self-lubricating design eliminates the need for oil or grease, reducing maintenance and environmental impact. Weighing 80% less than metal alternatives, they also support MSR's goal of lightweight construction—Jetsurf boards weigh under 20kg, compared to over 300kg for traditional jet skis.
