iTRIDENT : India's Thorium Power Revolution Launches

A National Mission for Clean Energy and Atmanirbhar Bharat Convened by the NeXorbi Scientific & Industrial Research Federation (NSIRF)

BENGALURU, India - Oct. 15, 2025 - PRLog -- In a landmark stride toward clean energy leadership and technological sovereignty, the NeXorbi Scientific & Industrial Research Federation (NSIRF) has officially launched Project iTRIDENTIndia's Thorium Research & Development Initiative for Indigenous Nuclear Technology.

Project iTRIDENT represents India's next great leap in nuclear innovation, focused on mastering Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) technology — a new-age, safe, and sustainable energy system capable of transforming the nation's energy landscape. By harnessing India's vast reserves of Thorium, the project aims to establish a cleaner, safer, and self-reliant pathway to meet future power demands.

Core Goals of Project iTRIDENT
  • National Infrastructure Creation: Establishment of the NeXorbi Thorium Science & Engineering Facility (NTSEF) — India's first dedicated Thorium R&D hub.
  • Advanced Reactor Development: Advancing MSR design to Technology Readiness Level 7 (Engineering-Ready Status) in collaboration with leading national institutes.
  • Cross-Sectoral Innovation: Extending research applications to space exploration, ocean research, and industrial technologies.
  • Strategic National Collaboration: Building a consortium with BARC, IGCAR, and Premier IITs to unify India's scientific and engineering capabilities under one strategic R&D vision.

A National CSR Partnership Opportunity

The project opens a high-impact avenue for corporate CSR partnerships, enabling visionary organizations to directly contribute to India's clean energy mission and R&D backbone.

CSR partners can support:
  • TAMTI (Talent & Manpower Training Initiative): Developing a specialized workforce for advanced nuclear technologies.
  • IN-SCIP (Indigenous Nuclear Startup & Component Incubation Program): Supporting deep-tech startups working on critical components and indigenous innovation.

"Project iTRIDENT is not just about nuclear research — it's about securing India's technological sovereignty, fostering innovation ecosystems, and building the clean energy foundation for generations to come,"
NSIRF Project Directorate

Through strategic collaboration between research institutions, industries, and the corporate sector, NSIRF envisions iTRIDENT as a symbol of India's scientific strength and self-reliance in the global clean energy race.
