Construction Site Accident Leads to $3M Settlement
MINEOLA, N.Y. - Oct. 11, 2025 - PRLog -- A union bricklayer was injured while performing facade work on the roof of an apartment complex in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY. While performing his work adjacent to the roof top access door, a gust of wind caused the door to dislodge from its hinges and strike him, causing him to fall.

As a result of the incident, the worker sustained herniated discs in his neck and a SLAP tear in his shoulder, both of which required him to undergo surgery.

Owners and general contractors at a construction site have a duty to keep workers safe from hazards on the job and to provide adequate protections. The failure to do so subjects them to liability.

The case was mediated but did not resolve as the parties were too far apart. Ultimately, the law firm was able to convince defendants and their insurance company to settle the matter for $3.1 million dollars.

If you were injured at a construction site, you may be entitled to compensation for your pain, suffering and economic loss.
