MEXICO CITY - Oct. 11, 2025 - PRLog -- Under the warm morning sun in El Batán Park, laughter and the rattle of balloon-powered cars filled the air as dozens of children leaned into science, curiosity, and play. The Data Management Association (DAMA) Mexico Children's Event transformed a quiet Saturday in Mexico City into a vibrant of learning, where data came alive in the hands of the next generation.

Hosted by DAMA Capítulo México, the event brought together families, educators, and technology professionals to show that data literacy isn't just for analysts, it's for anyone eager to explore, question, and discover. Guided by data advocate and children's book author Chandra Donelson, alongside Daniel Gomez, author of Data Management for Kids, children conducted various activities to learn data fundamentals.

"Watching them make sense of the world with nothing but curiosity reminded me that understanding technology starts with observing, asking, and trying again," said parent Daniel Perez, whose child built a balloon car using bottle caps for wheels. "Big thanks to Chandra, Daniel, and the DAMA crew for turning data into adventure, and for reminding us parents why curiosity still beats Wi-Fi."

For Donelson, who has earned global recognition for her transformational work in data, the event reflected a broader mission: teaching kids to read, write, analyze, and communicate with data.

"We're not just teaching kids about data," said Jessica Zuñiga, Vice President of Education for DAMA México. "We're giving them tools to think critically, solve problems, and make sense of their world. The kids weren't just following instructions, they were experimenting, debating, and creating."

That hands-on philosophy resonated deeply with families and educators. Gabriela López, an attendee, described the day as "a great initiative where through play, children were able to develop data skills." Nayana Guerrero, praised the inclusion of Donelson's book The Data Detective, calling it "an incredible way to make data fun for the next generation of leaders."

In an age where STEM and AI are reshaping economies, early exposure to data thinking is becoming essential. Around the world, educators are blending storytelling and science to build digital literacy before kids ever write a line of code. DAMA Mexico's Pathfinder Mission stands at the forefront of this movement, transforming complex ideas into tangible, joyful moments of discovery.

As the day closed, the young "detectives" stood proudly before an audience of parents, educators, and local officials to receive their diplomas. And as Zuñiga put it, "When you're having fun, time flies, but the learning stays."
