Smarttech247 Launches Fifth Edition of Women in Cybersecurity Academy

CORK, Ireland - Oct. 8, 2025 - PRLog -- Smarttech247, a leader in AI-enhanced cybersecurity and managed detection and response, has announced the launch of its fifth Women in Cybersecurity Academy, a free six-week global learning initiative designed to empower women with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in cybersecurity.

The Academy was created to promote diversity and help women gain practical, industry-ready skills for technology careers. Delivered remotely from Smarttech247's Security Operations Centres, it offers flexible, self-paced learning, live demonstrations, mentoring opportunities, and potential placements within Smarttech247.

Participants explore key cybersecurity domains, including Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Network Security, Threat Intelligence and Analysis, Cloud Security, Compliance and Risk Management, and Advanced Topics such as AI, machine learning, and blockchain. Each participant completes a capstone project and receives a certificate of participation upon completion.

Addressing the Global Gender Gap

Despite growing awareness, women remain underrepresented in cybersecurity. According to the (ISC)² Women in Cybersecurity Report 2025, women comprise just 22% of the global cybersecurity workforce—a figure largely unchanged in recent years. This stagnation persists despite an estimated 4 million unfilled cybersecurity positions worldwide.

Smarttech247's Academy directly responds to this challenge by opening the field to women of all backgrounds—whether experienced in IT or completely new to technology. The programme aims to help close the global skills gap while supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals for Quality Education (Goal 4) and Gender Equality (Goal 5).

Global Impact and Testimonials

Since its inception, the Academy has attracted participants from across the world. Many graduates from the previous four cohorts have transitioned into cybersecurity and technology roles.

Ana-Maria Rusu, a 2024 graduate, shared:
"Before the Academy, I didn't know where to start. It gave me the confidence to change career direction and see how technology connects everything."

Ioana Mihalache, another alumna, added:
"We learned directly from Smarttech247's analysts and worked on real-world challenges. It showed me that women can thrive in this field."

Curriculum and Programme Structure

The 2025 programme follows seven structured phases, beginning with applications and acceptance notifications, followed by six weekly modules, hands-on platform training, and a final project.

By graduation, participants will have:
  • A strong foundation in cybersecurity fundamentals and network defence.
  • Experience in analysing and mitigating cloud and network threats.
  • Hands-on exposure to tools such as QRadar, Splunk, and LogRhythm.
  • Knowledge of compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Confidence to pursue roles in SOC analysis, threat intelligence, or governance and risk functions.

Leadership Perspective

Raluca Saceanu
, CEO of Smarttech247, said:
"Championing diversity expands perspectives and drives innovation. There's room for everyone in cybersecurity, and I encourage women worldwide to apply."
