San Jose lights up pink for girls' empowerment

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Oct. 4, 2025 - PRLog -- What:  The Girls & Boys Clubs of Silicon Valley, in partnership with Comcast, is celebrating International Day of the Girl (https://bgclub.org/event/international-day-of-the-girl/), a globally recognized observance dedicated to championing the rights and empowerment of girls, with two special events:
  1. The main event, held at San Jose State University, will bring together 250 female leaders from the community with 250 local club girls, creating meaningful connections that help young girls build the confidence, courage, and life skills they need to take bold steps toward bright futures.

The event will include a panel of leading female power players including Alma Cooper, former Miss USA; Olympian Danielle Slaton; Krista Snelling of West Coast Community Bank, Zenia Zaveri, and Ashley Gidel, among others.

Event Highlights include
  • Inspiring Conversations: Participants hear from women making significant impacts in their fields, providing insights and motivation.​
  • Hands-On Workshops: Interactive activities allow girls to explore their passions and build new skills.​
  • Mentorship Opportunities: Attendees connect with mentors who support and guide them in their personal and professional journeys

  1. For the first time ever, locations across San Jose will light up pink from Saturday, October 4th-Wednesday, October 8th at night to commemorate International Day of the Girl and as a symbol of empowerment and opportunity for young girls. Locations include the Circle of Palms, the San Pedro Arch, the Bank of Italy Cupola, and the Santa Clara St. Corridor.
