India Revises Timelines for Mandatory Standards on Cookware and Food Contact Cans

SGS highlights India's updated Quality Control Order 2025, which revises national standards and extends compliance timelines for cookware, utensils and cans used with food and beverages.

GENEVA - Sept. 26, 2025 - PRLog -- SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, highlights India's Cookware, Utensils and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order, 2025, which updates standards and compliance deadlines for food contact products.

The order revises several national standards, including IS 14756, IS 1660, IS 14407 and IS 18427, and replaces IS 9396 (Part 1):1987 with IS 18427:2024. It also extends implementation dates for different enterprise sizes, providing additional time for small and micro enterprises to comply.

- Extended effective dates for large, small and micro enterprises
