Launch of Groundbreaking Black GDP Report at Congressional Black Caucus ALC

WASHINGTON - Sept. 25, 2025 - PRLog -- Creative Investment Research today announced the release of the first-ever Black GDP Report, a landmark analysis that quantifies the economic contributions of Black Americans to the U.S. economy. The report will be formally launched at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference (CBC ALC).

Drawing inspiration from the Latino GDP framework, the Black GDP Report provides a comprehensive view of Black economic power—measured through Gross Domestic Product, income, purchasing power, business formation, and state-level impact. The findings underscore both the resilience and the unrealized potential of Black communities across the nation.

Key Findings:
  • Black GDP (2023): Estimated at $1.6 trillion, comparable to the Canadian economy.
  • Purchasing Power: Reached $1.8 trillion in 2023, fueling key U.S. industries including housing, retail, transportation, and technology.
  • Business Impact: Over 3.5 million Black-owned businesses, employing 1.2 million workers and generating $200 billion in revenue.
  • Labor Force Role: Black workers represent 13% of the U.S. labor force, with strong concentrations in health care, education, public administration, and transportation.
  • Regional Contributions: States like New York, Georgia, Texas, Florida, and California are major hubs of Black GDP, often representing 10–15% of state-level growth.
Quotes:

"This report confirms what we've long known but have not measured with precision: Black America is not only central to our culture but also to our economy," said William Michael Cunningham, Economist and Author of the Black GDP Report. "By quantifying Black GDP, we create a powerful tool for policymakers, investors, and business leaders to recognize and leverage the full scope of Black economic contributions."

"Launching this at the Congressional Black Caucus is intentional,"
Cunningham added. "The CBC ALC is where economic justice and policy meet. This report equips decision-makers with data to drive equitable growth."

Policy Implications

The Black GDP Report calls for bold action to remove systemic barriers in access to capital, wealth accumulation, and workforce participation. It argues that expanding opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and workers would not only benefit Black communities but also significantly expand U.S. GDP and competitiveness.
