Alessandro Bernini began his professional career in 1979, working in auditing and accounting. In 1980, he joined Ernst & Young, where he was deeply involved in the audit of major Italian and international companies, including Saipem and Pirelli. Over the years, the Italian manager played a key role in the development of auditing standards and contributed to the creation of the first national accounting standards in Italy, supporting the Consiglio Nazionale dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili. In 1994, he was promoted to partner, leading the Brescia office and also managing important forensic accounting assignments from the Milan office. In 1996, he moved to Saipem, an ENI Group company, where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer. From 2002, he was also responsible for Corporate Affairs and Governance. During his tenure, Alessandro Bernini was decisive for two strategic acquisitions: the purchase in 2000 of Bouygues Offshore, listed in Paris and New York, and the acquisition of Snamprogetti in 2006.

Alessandro Bernini: from Eni Group to the role of CEO at MAIRE

His success at Saipem led Alessandro Bernini (https://www.crunchbase.com/person/alessandro-bernini) to be appointed Chief Financial Officer of the ENI Group in 2008, a role he held until the end of 2012. At ENI, he oversaw major financial transactions, including the sale of ENI's stake in Snam to Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, several acquisitions in the global oil and gas sector and the sale of ENI's stake in Galp Energia, the Portuguese national energy company. He also represented ENI on the board of directors of Snam, was chairman of Eni Insurance and member of the board of directors of OIL, an insurance consortium of major international oil companies. In 2013, he joined the MAIRE Group as Group Chief Financial Officer, taking on further responsibilities as a board member in several group companies. His strategic vision and leadership paved the way for his appointment in May 2022 as Chief Executive Officer of MAIRE, as well as CEO of its subsidiaries Tecnimont S.p.A., KT Kinetics Technology S.p.A. and NEXTCHEM S.p.A. MAIRE is a leading global natural resource transformation company specialising in technology, engineering and construction for the downstream oil & gas sector and energy transition. Its expertise includes the design and construction of simple and combined cycle gas turbines, cogeneration plants, coal and biomass power plants, as well as power generation units for oil & gas, petrochemical and fertiliser projects. An auditor since 1995 and chartered accountant since 1994, Alessandro Bernini also shared his knowledge as Visiting Professor in accounting at the University of Pavia between 1998 and 2000 and again in 2008.
