ATLANTA - Aug. 28, 2025 - PRLog -- U.S. Senator Raphael G. Warnock (D–Ga.), senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and his delegation met with Rufus Darkortey, co-founder and president of the Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI), during their historic visit to Liberia earlier this month.

Senator Warnock, accompanied by members of Ebenezer Baptist Church, visited Liberia to reaffirm lasting ties between the two nations, mingling pastoral outreach with diplomatic engagement. The high-profile delegation also met with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Liberia's president since January 2024, and visited the nation's historic Providence Baptist Church, site of a newly signed sister‑church Memorandum of Understanding with Ebenezer Baptist.

During his meeting with the delegation, Mr. Darkortey discussed shared priorities including economic development, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation—core to LEDI's mission to "reduce poverty and change lives." He also noted that with one of LEDI's offices based in Georgia, the organization not only strengthens its international reach, but also shares a direct and meaningful connection to Senator Warnock's constituency.

"This was a significant and meaningful exchange," said Darkortey, "highlighting the importance of collaboration and meaning partnerships between Liberia and the United States."

Senator Warnock, blending his roles as legislator and faith leader, described the trip as more than a visit, "a spiritual homecoming," according to Analyst Liberia. Reflecting on Liberia's resilience and rich heritage, he emphasized the U.S.'s continued role as partner in development, highlighting opportunities for both public and private investment to strengthen Liberia's economic vitality.

The trip culminated with the formal signing of an MOU between Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia and Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, further solidifying spiritual and cultural ties that span Liberia's foundation and its diaspora legacy.
