| ![]() The Brooklyn Park Small Business Center Hosts Open House Marking Second AnniversarySince its pilot launch, the Center has focused on meeting the unique needs of Brooklyn Park's diverse business community. This year, the Center expanded its offerings through valuable partnerships with community organizations, including the Neighborhood Development Center (NDC), CAPI USA, Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Department, Metro Transit Blue Line Expansion, and Elevate Hennepin. The anniversary celebration event, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5 - 7 P.M., highlights the continued growth and impact of the Brooklyn Park Small Business Center, located at 7970 Brooklyn Blvd, as a vital resource for fostering economic development and community engagement in Brooklyn Park. Invited Public officials include Mayor Hollies Winston, Brooklyn Park City Council members, and the office of Economic Development Authority (EDA). Emcee hostess, and music provided by DeMonica Flye of DFlye Entertainment and Michael Lee Jr. BPSBC is led by Executive Director Indred Alexander, independent operator of Life by Design Management and Consulting. The Center has significantly expanded it's offerings, scheduling to host a variety of events and workshops. Notable monthly offerings include the RISE (Resiliency, Innovation, Sustainability, Empowerment) Efforts have been made to connect with a broad spectrum of small businesses throughout Brooklyn Park and the broader Twin Cities, including home-based businesses, realtors, insurance professionals, attorneys, accountants, retailers, and artisan crafters. As the holiday season approaches, the Center will host several exhibits and pop-up events to showcase local talent and encourage community commerce. Over the past two years, BPSBC achieved an impressive occupancy rate of over 70% in terms of membership recruitment. In contrast, small businesses in general have been greatly impacted by national economic indicators due to key fluctuations and challenges such as cash flow, customer attraction /retention, regulatory compliance, and taxes. In response the Center created an accessible subsidy support program especially for dedicated retail workspaces.
