| Ocean County Families Benefit from Earth Breeze and Each Stitch Counts PartnershipThis partnership will help families facing hygiene insecurity by providing them with laundry detergent, dish soap and handmade washcloths.
By: Each Stitch Counts Each Stitch Counts was founded by passionate crafter Debbie Trainor to fill the gap in access to hygiene products for families who rely on food pantries. "Government programs like SNAP do not cover non-food purchases, leaving essentials like dish soap and detergent out of reach for many," stated Trainor. Trainor combined her love for knitting and crochet with a mission to help others, organizing a community of crafters to provide dish soap, detergent and handmade dishcloths and washcloths to food pantries for families facing hygiene insecurity. Today, Each Stitch Counts has grown into a formal charity. The organization delivers over 400 bottles of soap every month to food pantries across Ocean County. The nonprofit aims to donate 5,000 bottles in 2025, and is already ahead of schedule– their 2025 donations so far have already surpassed their total donations from 2023. "Clean clothes shouldn't be a luxury," said Trainor. "This partnership with Earth Breeze allows us to help more families feel confident and cared for, even in difficult times." One package of Earth Breeze detergent can last up to 28 loads of laundry. For struggling families, this can make an incredible difference in their quality of life. This is Each Stitch Counts' third year participating in Earth Breeze's program. The Earth Breeze Dignity Through Detergent Program uses a Buy One, Give Ten model to provide charitable organizations with eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets. Cotton dishcloths serve many purposes in the home. The natural progression was to add them to bottles of dish detergent to be given away. Research and contacts with local food pantries found that there was a need for these cleaning products. In 2021, the founder began to package dishcloths with bottles of detergent bringing them to local food pantries. It quickly became apparent that the need was greater than one person could supply. A Facebook group was founded which now has more than 1700 members in the U.S. and around the world. End
