Walking Globetrotter Jack "JAXWALK Huffman and Michigan Father Dereck Coe to Trek Across MIWalking from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, Huffman mentors Coe—a first-time endurance walker and father of two—as they take on the state's Lake-to-Lake Trail together, step by step.
By: Elite Ink Joining Jack is Dereck Coe, a 46-year-old father from Royal Oak, and proud dad to Brooklyn and Bryce. A longtime follower of Jack's adventures, Dereck is stepping out of the crowd and into the journey, representing the many everyday people inspired by Jack's message of movement, challenge, and personal transformation. The two will walk from South Haven on the shores of Lake Michigan to Port Huron on the banks of Lake Huron, crossing the entire state on foot through trails, towns, and countryside. The Lake-to-Lake Trail connects 275 miles of paths showcasing Michigan's beauty and community spirit. For Dereck, this will be his first endurance walk of this magnitude. As part of the mission, Jack will be guiding and supporting him throughout the journey—offering mentorship, encouragement, and hands-on help to ensure he finishes strong. "Dereck is the heart of this walk," said Jack. "He's proving that this kind of journey isn't just for world travelers or extreme athletes. It's for anyone willing to show up and take one step at a time." "This is about showing my kids that big things are still possible," said Derek. "At 46, I'm doing something I never imagined. I couldn't do it without Jack's support—but I'm ready." Though this is not a fundraising event, those who wish to support Jack's ongoing walking mission can donate at www.jaxwalk.com. Contributions help sustain the documented non profit organizations that have been the pinnacle of the previous walking journeys that continue to inspire people around the world. Supporters can follow daily updates, trail stories, and behind-the-scenes content by visiting www.jaxwalk.com and following on social media using the hashtag #JAXWALK. Michigan residents are also encouraged to walk alongside Jack and Dereck for sections of the trail and be part of the living story. End
