IMIDRO's IMPASCO Poised for Transformation: CEO Emphasizes Sustainable Growth and Innovation

TEHRAN, Iran - Aug. 9, 2025 - PRLog -- On the occasion of Journalist Day, the Iranian Minerals Production and Supply Company (IMPASCO), a subsidiary of IMIDRO, held a special press conference led by CEO Touraj Zareh. The event gathered journalists and industry experts to discuss IMPASCO's challenges, achievements, and future vision.

Zareh emphasized that human capital is the cornerstone of sustainable development, stating: "Only companies that integrate advanced technologies and establish a strong presence in innovation ecosystems can remain competitive on a global scale." He referred to a 1998 global conference where the adaptation of humans to technology and its environmental impacts became a key discussion point.

Highlighting Iran's urgent environmental challenges, Zareh pointed to climate change, water shortages, and electricity crises as pressing reasons to adopt a sustainable development model. He compared renewable energy use in Europe — over 60% — to Iran's figure of less than 10%, adding that mining efficiency in Iran still lags behind global standards due to infrastructural limitations.

The CEO stressed the need to move towards a knowledge-based economy: "At IMPASCO, we aim to model sustainable development, especially as the steel and mining sectors face power and gas shortages and reduced profit margins. Developing downstream copper industries with knowledge-based processes is one of our key priorities to meet global benchmarks."

Zareh also outlined IMPASCO's exploration initiatives, noting that exploration permits have been issued in 20 provinces. The company has introduced new investment structures, including active private sector participation, to accelerate progress. Current investment packages total 18.5 billion tomans, featuring diverse financing mechanisms and opportunities for small-scale investors.

Addressing Iran's Seventh Development Plan, Zareh underscored the importance of private sector involvement: "Given the government's limited financial resources, this cooperation is essential to sustain exploration and investment efforts."

Reviewing IMPASCO's operational performance as IMIDRO's executive arm, Zareh reported: "Despite challenges from crises such as the recent 12-day war and economic recession, we completed 70 million tons of operations under IMIDRO and 4 million tons under IMPASCO, achieving 1 million tons in production."

He concluded by emphasizing that countries like Iran — with abundant natural resources and affordable labor — can achieve remarkable success through improved productivity and knowledge-based production. Strengthening public-private cooperation, he said, remains the key to this path.
