Maps charting family history provided the direction for Wetion (2nd edn). After submitting the author's DNA, National Geographic Society's Genographic Project supplied the migration routes of the author's ancestors. This allowed James Allan Krause, PhD, to focus on the places identified and the lifestyle and events during specified periods described. Insight was further enhanced when the genetic groups the author belonged to were named, along with estimates of their numbers. Paternally, results showed he was a member of Haplogroup I, Haplogroup H on his mother's side. This estimated he was related to more than 40% of Europeans. Being of common stock influenced strategies concerning character development. It also made Wetion relevant to hundreds of millions of people belonging to these groups. Learning his social position helped assign realistic traits to the characters created. The US-based National Institutes of Health, an authority on genetics, established that traits "can be determined by genes, environmental factors or by a combination of both". This was especially helpful in shaping the main character's personality. Addy, as he was named, had an aptitude for experiments, so does the author. The story begins with Addy testing whether brain cells retain memories of places the ancestors lived. His actions would also inspire the lyrics to "We are where we've been to some degree," one of 10 original songs adding meaning to the action that follows. As the story shows, communication changes with the passage of time. From beginning to end, Africa to Canada, this slowly evolves from symbolism to more complex forms over the passing of 2,000 generations. Dramatic incidents of basic survival are imaginatively associated with the emergence of laws, class, codes, cures, and love. Over time, facts are distinguished from fiction. Research does uncover elements of truth in family legends and history in personality traits as it was told. Currently, Wetion is distributed by around 50 well-known booksellers internationally. Wetion is an entrant in the 2026 Audie Awards for Best Product & Sound Design. The company respectfully acknowledges that the land on which the audiobook musical was completed is the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K'ómoks First Nation, traditional keepers of the place.
